I am a new mom and it is incredible! My little monster is 16 months already and the time goes quicker than anyone could have ever explained to me. Even though everything is already passing by too quickly, I was beyond ecstatic to plan Brooklyn’s first birthday party!!!
First thing that needs to be decided with any event is a theme…and a children’s party is no different! When it looked like I started to go in the direction of owls, my husband was not exactly convinced. After some assurance that I totally knew what I was doing, he agreed to let me do whatever I wanted – exactly what I was hoping to hear.
There were so many people we wanted to invite, that we decided to have the party at a park. I selected owl plates and napkins that were mostly pink and then had different pink, yellow, blue, and green accents throughout the party.
One of the decorations that was super easy to put together, although was surprisingly time consuming, were these oversized pieces of candy we hung up all over the place. To create these, I wrapped paper lanterns with clear cellophane and tied with ribbons on each side. This is a great way to add pops of color to any venue!
A couple of other items I was proud of were the gift bags for all the kids who came, and the sangria for our adult beverage of choice. The gift bags seemed to be a hit, and with the cold February weather, I know the adults appreciated the strong sangria!!
I wanted to find something I could bring out birthday-after-birthday for Brooklyn, and I came across these personalized glitter blocks on Etsy (a website I am obsessed with). Along with some framed pictures of the baby, mini cupcakes from my favorite cupcakery (Frosted), and homemade chocolate chip cookies, we created the sweetest dessert table! It looked so pretty!!
All-in-all, it was a perfect party! Since I am the worst at scrapbooking, I decided to start a new tradition. I made a photo album for the day, and it turned out so cute!
I can’t wait to see what I come up with for her second birthday!!!

Such a beautiful event for an beautiful little angel
